A Glimpse into the PastStudying German as a teenager, it was the one place in Europe I knew I wanted to see. It turned out, Italy would be the first place I visited, exploring Rome by foot. I would eventually make it to Bavaria a few years later and fell in love with the castles and traditional architecture. Although it's one of the smallest continents on Earth, it's had a massive global influence, especially in the 19th and 20th centuries. To me it's always had a romantic element that exists because of a collective nostalgia for a time that has already passed, full of kings, queens, knights, and mythical creatures.
